We wanted to investigate how varying percentage discounts to MSRP impacts Cost Per Unit Moved (CPUM), which is a critical data point for brands when considering margin. We determined the ideal discount in every industry by looking at the range of discounts to MSRP where CPUM is lowest & the percent of total products moved is highest. For almost everyone, there is a point of diminishing returns when discounting.
By aggregating all this anonymized data from several different industries we were able to answer the following questions:
